Solid waste leachate can generate environment problem. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Oon-Nuch Wastewater treatment Plant treats the soild waste leachate by using alum coagulation. The sludge from the treatment plant is about 45 % of the influent volume with 99 % moisture content. This study aims to utilize the sludge in order to reduce the expense in wastewater treatment and to reduced the amount of sludge to be treated and amount of aluminium that is dispersed into the environment. In this study, it was found that the optimum pH for alum recovery for every sample in every usage cycle is about 1.5. The percent recovery of alum when used only the recovered alum shows reduction in every cycle, from 70.4 %-4.6 % but when used with bauxide alum, in half and in one fourth of the optimum dosage, the percent recovery are found to be 48.7 %-66.3 % and 32.3 %-56.8 %, respectively. In the study of the reuse of the recovered alum, it was found that when using only the recovered alum, the efficiencies of COD and color removal is reduced and shows more reduction if used in more cycles. For chemical cost, it is cheaper when using only bauxide alum. In the case of using the recovered alum with bauxide alum, in half and in one fourth of the optimum dosages, the efficiencies of COD and color removal are almost the same that when using only bauxide alum alone but the color removal efficiency, when using with bauxide alum in half of optimum dosage are better than that using with bauxide alum in one fourth of the optimum dosage. The chemical costs for this two cases are less than that when using only with bauxide alum upto the fourth cycle.
