Anthelmintic activity of thiophanate against immature Neoasaris vitulorum in buffalo calves

Anthelmintic activity of single oral doses of thiophanate at the rates of 50 and 70 mg/kg of body weight was determined by the Field trial method against immature Neoascaris vitulorum in buffalo calves. Thiophanate at the rate of 50 and 70 mg/kg was highly effective (100 percent) against immature N. vitulorum. No buffalo calves developed patent infections after treatment by determining the worm eggs in the feces. Average weight gain in the thiophanate-treated group was greater than that of the untreated group. Average daily weight gain was 0.48 and 0.51 kilogram in the thiophanate treated calves at 50 and 70 mg/kg respectively but it was 0.35 kilogram in the untreated calves.
