Having in mind that the potassium, sodium and alpha-nitrogen content values are used in the empirical formula equations for calculating the sucrose content in molasses, denoted as Sm, the influence of the ratio K/Na, the sum (K+Na) and the alpha-nitrogen value has been scrutinized regarding the results as obtained by those equations. Analyzing the calculation results a deduction appears that the lowest values for sucrose in molasses belong to samples with the smallest values for K+Na, and the highest ratio figures for K/Na. If the sum (K+Na) is not at its lowest value, the smallest sucrose in molasses content is related to the least amount of alpha-nitrogen. The highest values for Sm appear at samples with maximal values for (K+Na) and lowest ones for K/Na, and if these do not occur, the top values come with samples presenting the topmost alpha-nitrogen content. Combining the two assessments, the conclusion may be drawn that the alpha-nitrogen content exercises more control on the S value, than both the potassium and sodium contents. The sucrose content in beets is not an important feature for Sm.
