Fungi of the genus Erysiphe (DC.) Fr. in Serbia [Yugoslavia]

A search for powdery mildew agents present in central, west and east Serbia (Yugoslavia) was carried out during the period 1986-1994. A total of thirty fungal species of the genus Erysiphe (DC.) Fr. was observed: E. aquilegiae, E. artemisiae, E. asperifoliorum, E. betae, E. biocellata, E. buhrii, E. catalpae, E. circaeae, E. cichoracearum, E. convolvuli, E. cruchetiana, E. cruciferarum, E. depressa, E. fischeri, E. galeopsidis, E. galii, E. graminis, E. heraclei, E. lythrii, E. magnicellulata, E. mayorii, E. pisi, E. polygoni, E. ranunculi, E. salviae, E. sordida, E. thesii, E. trifolii, E. urticae, and E. verbasci. They were studied as the causal agents of powdery mildews on 137 plant species. Twenty of the indentified fungal species were recorded for the first time in Serbia, and powdery mildews were newly recorded on 92 host plant species.
