This study was undertaken to determine the effect of sowing pattern and boron and zinc fertilization input on alfalfa seed yield and quality under the agroecological conditions of southern Banat, Serbia (Yugoslavia). The highest alfalfa seed yield was achieved with plants grown at 20 cm interrow spacing and at sowing rate 15 kg/ha of seed. Significantly lower seed yield was achieved with plants grown at 50 and 80 cm interrow spacing and at seeding rates 6 and 3 kg/ha of seed, respectively. The most favourable seed germination was achieved with plants grown in wider vegetation spacings. Seed yield and germination were raised using foliar boron fertilization input in the budding stage during dry vegetation seasons. Seed germination was not affected by boron and zinc fertilization input.
