The content of arsenic, cadmium, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, sulphur, selenium and zinc in 5 types of grasses, 2 clovers and 12 broadleaved herbs from natural meadows has been compared to cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata). The differences between the species are statistically significant, but most of the plants show mean contents within a factor of two compared with cocksfoot. A notable exception is cadmium which accumulates in most of the broadleaved herbs with average Cd contents up to 8 times higher than in grasses.
