1998
Vajna, L. | Schwarczinger, I. (Magyar Tud. Akad., Budapest (Hungary). Novenyved. Kutatoint.)
Occurrance of the disease, its symptoms and the causal agents are described. The branch canker and dieback was caused by Botryosphaeria by Botryosphaeria dothidea (Mougeot ex Fries) Ceasi and de Notaris. Botrytis cinerea Pers. emend Buchw. was identified as an associated species. The weakened trunk was invaded by an unidentified bark beetle. The disease is considered as a form of decline, a complex disease caused by unfaviourable abiotic conditions and by Botryosphaeria dothidea as a decline pathogen. This is first report of B. dothides from Hungary
