Do light traps affect the overall density of insect populations?
1998
Jermy, T. (Magyar Tud. Akad., Budapest (Hungary). Novenyved. Kutatoint.)
Light traps may collect occasionally great numbers of insect specimens. Thus, the question arises whether continuous light trapping at the same spot may reduce the overall density of insect populations. Experiments, observations and experience related to the behaviour of insects in the vicinity of light traps indicate that the traps take only small samoles from the random "current of insects" without affecting absolute population densities
