Production of folic acid and hemoglobin syrp from natural resources

Folic acid and iron preparations are very important in overcoming and curing many pathological and food defficiency syndroms,e.g. anemia prevailes in childern and in pregnancies.To make use of the natural and/or waste resources i.e animal and plant; an attempt to prepare two important pharmaceuticals was made. Hemoglobin syrup was prepared by extracting hemoglobin from bovin blood and mixing with natural additives (i.e Date Syrup and food flavour) to make up the final product. Parabenzoate (methyl-parabenzoate;propyl parabenzoate 2:1) was used to enhance shelf-life. The product was successfully heat sterelized. Analysis of the composition of the final product indicates the following ratios:hemoglobin 1490, iron 49 mg, reducing sugar 34, protein 16 and preservative 0.07. The second product (folic acid) was extracted from spinach leaves and purified by using ion-exchange chromatography (DEAE-Cellulose). The purity was checked chromatographically
