The research deals with the deficiency of trace minerals in ruminants on the farms of Latvia. Obvious clinical diseases resulting from serious deficiency of Co, Cu, Fe, Se, Mn in nutrients have specific clinical findings, but subclinical diseases caused by mild deficiency of these elements can be recognized by metabolic profile tests. Several cases of the diseases in different districts of Latvia in the period of 1994-1997 are described and analysed.
