Kravale, D. | Auzins, V. (Latvian State Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science "Sigra", Sigulda (Latvia))
The trial was carried out in 3 farms of Latvian State Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science "Sigra". The aim of the presented work was to evaluate the quality and nutritional value of big bale silage prepared from grass, clover and grass/clover swards. The content of dry matter (DM) in the raw material was different. Silage with 25...37 DM content had the best fermentation quality. Silage with law DM content (less than 20 ) had a high organic acid content. Silage with 48 and 55 DM content had some mouldy patches. Clover silage had the highest energy value and protein level.
