Sand as soil parent material

The article presents characteristics of Latvia's sand deposits as the most significant soil parent material occupying 24% of the territory of Latvia. Textural, mineralogical and chemical changes occuring in the process of sandy soil sedimentation are revealed. The processes favouring there changes are explained.
