[Detection of Leptospira interrogans antibody in horses used for production of hyperimmune sera] | Deteccion de anticuerpos contra Leptospira interrogans en equinos dedicados a la produccion de sueros hiperinmunes

Sera from 1 to 21 year old horses coming from the Instituto Nacional de Higiene in Mexico, which were used for hiperimmune antisera production, were analized for the microscopic agglutination test (MAT) with 19 serovars of L. interrogans. In addition, 5 rabbits were inoculared with the antigens used in horses (rabies virus; tetanic and disphteric toxoids and scorpion and snake poison), and their sera was tested for the MAT. Serovars showing more positive reactions were: autumnalis, australis and pomona. Serovars with the highest titres were: autumnalis, cynopteri and pyrogenes (1:6400) and australis, celledoni, szwajizak and icterohaemorrhagiae (1:3200). One case of total immunological identity among rabies virus and L. pomona was detected. None of the rabbit sera showed titrers against Leptospira

Sueros de equinos de 1 a 21 anos procedentes del Instituto Nacional de Higiene y dedicados a producir sueros hiperinmunes, fueron analizados por aglutinacion microscopica (AM) contra 19 serovariedades de L. interrogans. Se inocularon conejos con los antigenos utilizados en los equinos (virus rabico, toxoides tetanico y difterico y venenos de alacran y vibora) y se probaro por AM. Las serovariedades con mas reacciones positivas fueron: autumnalis, australis y pomona. Las serovariedades con titulos mas altos fueron: autumnalis, cynopteri y pyrogenes (1:6400) y australis, celledoni, szwajizak e icterohaemorrhagiae (1:3200). Se detecto un caso de identidad inmunologica total entre virus rabico y L. pomona (suero 545). Ninguno de los conejos inmunizados mostro titulos contra leptospira
