Varietal collection and evaluation of Chrepanthemum in the northern Philippine highlands

A total of 63 accessions of Chrysanthemum from local and foreign sources made up the Horticultural Research and Training Institute germplasm collection. They are being maintained in vivo in the greenhouse and in vitro in the Tisue Culture laboratory. Twenty accessions were characterized in the observational plots from Oct 1997 to Feb 1998. Seventeen accessions were classified as disbud, 2 as standard and 1 as spray type. Eight entries were entered in the replicated trial following randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications from Nov 10, 1997 to Feb 1998. They were evaluated based on flower color, flower diameter, final plant height, stem diameter, number of cutflower harvested, flower quality and resistance to pest
