Five hybrids of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) namely NK-212, NK-277, NSH-45, Uroflora and Sunx 843 were compared for plant height, head diameter, maturity and seed yield under up and low lands of Balochistan during 1990 and 1991. Highly significant differences were observed among the varieties for all the studied traits at both locations (Quetta and Dhadar). NK 277 gave highest yield of 2552 Kg/ha followed by Uroflora giving a yield of 2258 Kg/ha while NSH-45 gave the lowest yield (1993 Kg/ha) in the trial having a significant difference in hybrids. The present study indicated that the yield performance was significantly different for years due to environmental changes, but non significant for locations which means that sunflower can grow successfully over a vide range of soil and temperature in up and low lands of Balochistan.
