Response of wheat cv. Pasban-90 and Barani-83 to water stress at different reproductive development stages was studied under five conditions. Water stress was imposed either at boot, enthesis, grain development or through out reproductive development. Each water stress treatment significantly suppressed wheat development parameters, viz, leaf area index, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate and harvest index. Pasban-90 exhibited higher values of all the aforementioned parameters than Barani-83. Similarly Pasban-90 produce significantly more grain yield ha-1 than Barani-83 with each water stress treatment. Over all, boot proved to be the single, most sensitive stage to water stress. However, Pasban-90 grown without water stress gave maximum grain yield of 5.48 t ha-1 while Barani-83 subjected to water stress throughout its reproductive development produced the significant minimum of 2.25 t ha-1.
