Free folacin in infant formula

The study was aimed at free folacin determination in human milk, specific powdered infant formula products, and Rajo-UTH cow milk. The highest level of free folacin concentration was found in Rajo-UHT cow milk (2.55 +/- 0.22 microgram per 100 ml.) Concerning human milk, the highest free folacin concentration was found in postpartum human milk (1.04 +/- 0.16 microgram per 100 ml). In powdered formula products, the highest concentration was detected in Feminar (1.15 +/- 0.12 microgram per 100 ml). The share at the recommended daily intake varied from 4.66 to 42.50 % according to the amount of milk consumed. The method with Lactobacillus casei ATCC 74499 following the STN 560057 was used for free folacin determination
