The structure and function of the plant germplasm information system EVIGEZ

The Czecho-Slovak Information system for plant genetic resources EVIGEZ comprises four main parts: passport, evaluation, gene bank storage, and introduction data. A new programme has been created with the related database software FoxPRO 2.0 Multiuser. It uses windows, precludes the possibility of information duplication and optimizes disk space. Data is distributed to more than 30 files, which are related to the main file PASPORT by a unique accession number. The programme checks input by code files. In the storage subdivision, it checks the minimum seed reserve according to critical values of particular crops. The system is easy to manage by means of menus, where various indexes are offered. It is designed for a multiuser local area network, which is now being set up in the Gene Bank
