Objective of this study is to analyze the problems and prospects of production and export of Thai leather products. Leather products are leather footwear, leather bags, leather gloves, leather cases. An analysis follow market share and revealed comparative advantage for prospects the export Thai leather products. This study was carried out secondary data during the year of 1981-1992 from government sector, private sector and international organization.The study trend of import and export leather products in world market are increase, main importer such as USA, Germany, France etc., and main exporter such as Italy, Korea, China etc. The study of production and exportation of Thai leather products are that the value of export have not expand at satisfy. Because of many problems such as shortage of raw material,lack of skilled labor, competition, trade protection in foreign market. The export Thai leather products have main market such as USA, Italy, Germany, Japan, UK, Canada etc. In analizing the prospects of export Thai leather products, the study found that each products have prospects to expand in different markets.Leather footwear expands good in USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada. Leather bags expand good in Germany, Japan and Canada. Leather gloves expand good in UK. Leather cases expand good in USA and Germany. Thailand's main competitors in leather goods are Italy, France, Germany, Korea, China, Indonesia, India etc. In conclusion, the value of export Thai leather products will increase by the coordination between government and private sector to solve the problems such as promote to rear the animals in farm management, establish the leather institute and increase trade negotiations etc.
