Appropriate rate and time of nitrogen fertilization and optimum plant density of sweet corn grown on a Pak Chong soil
1993
Surapol Chowchong
Experiments on appropriate rate and time of nitrogen fertilization and optimum plant density for sweet corn production were conducted at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center in 1989. Nitrogen fertilizer showed a pronounced effect on yield and agronomic characteristecs. The results suggested that 30 to 60 kilograms of nitrogen per rai with a split application should be applied for sweet corn production on Pak Chong soil. An half of this nitrogen fertilizer should be applied at planting and the rest at stage 30 days after planting. In order to obtain high yield and high quality product for sweet corn production, the plant spacings of either 75 * 35 cm or 75 * 30 cm one plant per hill were recommended.
