Health food supplement consumption: The case of the food and nutrition personnel

To maintain a good health is essential for people in all walk of life. Some people believed that taking health food supplements was a way to help their physical fitness and this was why food supplements were popular among them. This study is intended:- (1) To investigate the consumption of health food supplement by the food and nutrition personnel. (2) To test any significant differences of health food supplement consumption among the following variables : Age, sex, health status, general health, knowledge of health food supplement, and perception of health food supplement advertisement. (3) To compile various opinions regarding to health food supplements from the sample group. The study showed that 70 members out of 150 of the sample group took health food supplements. The most favourite kinds were bird's nest beverage and essence of chicken were which contained in 45 ml a bottle. The consumption pattern was 1 bottle per day but not regularly. The result of t - test analysis was that the effects of health status, general health, human perception of TV advertisement and human perception of advertisement in printing materials upon consumer behaviour were statistically different but the effects of other variables ie, age, sex knowledge of health food supplement and human perception on radio advertisement were not. The majority of the sample group thought that health food supplement were not necessary for persons who could maintain their good health and regularly consumed all 5 basic food groups in full.
