The considerable fall of beef production, in regard to the quantity as well as the quality, has been recorded. In future, it will be necessary to adjust the production of beef in Yugoslavia to demands of the European Union market, which means to introduce the production of extra quality beef. Based on the fact that there are 500,000 heifers of Domestic Spotted breed with lower productive traits in Yugoslavia, the Research Institute for Animal Husbandry, Belgrade - Zemun (Yugoslavia), in cooperation with France Embryon Genetique Elevage (France), has conducted crossing of Domestic Spotted breed of lower productive traits with French fattening breeds, Charolais and Limousine. Based on obtained results of the investigation, young cattle obtained by the crossing with French fattening breeds have expressed better fattening traits, quality of the carcass and quality of meat compared to Domestic Spotted young cattle. Application of industrial crossing of Domestic Spotted breed of lower productive traits, beside considerable increase of the quality and quantity of beef, affects the increase of the economic profit in beef production.
