To a maize silage fed at libitum to wethers was added 70g, 210g and 350g untreated whole maize grain (I experiment), grain absorbed 10g, 30g and 50g urea respectively (II group) and 90g, 280g and 470g sunflower meal (III experiment).Rations were equalised in protein (N x 6.25) for II and III experiment. When feeding maize silage with additive of 350g maize grain that was absorbed 50g urea the consumed dry matter increased compared to untreated and treated with lower doses of urea and I equals in dry matter to 280g sunflower meal (1.391kg vs. 1.330kg) and was almost the same in accumulated energy and crude protein to experiment with 470g sunflower meal.
