Influence of the nitrogen fertilization and variety on the nitrate content in green garlic

In a pot trial, in an unheated glasshouse, the influence of the nitrogen fertilization and variety on the nitrate content is studed. It is found, that under the influence of the nitrogen fertilization the content of nitrates in garlic plants increases in a rectline subordination (r 0.892). A genotype reaction exists towards accumulation of nitrates in the plants of green garlic. The highest is the nitrate content in N 110, the least in Jubileiny gribovsky. The distribution of nitrates in the plant organs is not uniform. The real stem and root accumulate the highest quantity, followed by the false stem, and the leaf part, which accumulates the smallest quantity. The ratio of the nitrate content of the real stem to the false stem depends on the variety while the level of nitrogen has not influence upon it.
