Effect of rare earths on sprouting, growth of young plants and nutrient elements content of spring wheat and pea in pot trials were investigated. 11 different concentrations of rare earth elements were tested by seed soaking. Different times of soaking were used. The effect of rare earths on biological processes depended from concentration of soaking solution and time of soaking. By long-time (21 and 24 hours) soaking in solutions with rare earths the weight of wheat plants increased by 8.7...26.2 per cent. Seed soaking in rare earths solutions for 4 hours increased the weight of pea plant by 21.8...31.0 per cent. The use of rare earths increased the P, K and Ca content in pea roots, and decreased the Ca content in young pea plants
