On the effect of Finnish Landrace boars on the meat performance of Estonian Landrace pigs

The experiments were carried out at Kehtna, in the Departement of Pig Breeding of the Institute of Animal Science of the Estonian Agricultural University and in the Estonian Landrace Pig Breeding Co-operative in 1997. The basic meat performance traits and meat quality of the pigs of different genotypes were compared. The experiments involved two groups of pigs. The first group comprised 58 descendants of 9 purebred boars of the Estonian Landrace breed (EP), the second group included 52 descendants of 9 boars of the Finnish Landrace breed (SL) and the sows of the Estonian Landrace breed
