The present article contains information about the application of superficial active agents in the diagnostics of subclinical mastitis in cows. There were investigated 7 superficial active agents with indicators and one of them was chosen for further investigations. The examination of 507 milk samples using the mastitis test produced by the authors (Mastest) and California Mastitis Test (CMT) revaled that the results obtained by both tests differ, but little, whereas, there is a direct dependence between the number of somatic cells and Mastest readings. The readings of Mastest and CMT are in the best correlation (99.39-100 per cent) when estimation points are 1 and 5. The total correlation coefficient is r=+0.997. The changes of colour and consistence of both test and milk samples could be observed visually
