[Infection of intestinal helminths in sows and horses after dehelmintization with different anthelmintics]

The experiments were carried out the Lithuanian pig and horse breeding farms. It was determined that after dehelmintization with 50 Fenben granules (active substance fenbendazole) the greater number of horses remained the helminth carriers. The extensiveness of infection into treated horses was very high (from 86.7 to 87.3). Oxibendazole (dosed 10 mg/kg body weight) was by far more efficient than fenbendazole (dosed 7.5 mg/kg). In two pig-breeding farms 50 Fenben granules and Levamisole tablets revealed not only very high intensefficiency but also high extensefficiency. Thus, the FECR of both anthelmintics was 95. This means that in the investigated pig-breeding farms helminths Oesophagostomum dentatum were not resistant to anthelmintics fenbendazole and levamisole.
