[Comparison evaluation of goat breeds raised in Lithuania]
1998
Zapasnikiene, B. (Lithuanian Institute of Animal Science, Baisogala (Lithuania))
The number of goats in Lithuania currently amounts to 20.000. Mostly native breeds of goasts are kept, however, people show interest in imported breeds, too. Of late, over 400 goats of imported breeds have been recorded. The research data of 1995-1997 on individual breeds indicated that imported goats - Saanen and Szech White - were characterized by 5 to 10 g and by 100 kg higher milk production respectively, but native goats were more fertile and resistant.
