The results confirmed current taxonomical ranks of the species studied with the use of molecular markers revealed in this search. It is showed a high level of variation among isolates of S. tritici and slightly lower variation among S. nodorum isolates. The results obtained in analysis on closer level of relatedness due to inconsistance in grouping of some isolates should be considered with caution. The RAPD markers have potential as a means of identifying S. a. triticea isolates and increasing or understanding of the population biology of the species studied which is of primary importance for genetic protection of cereals against the pathogen
