The field experiment trial was carried out on the Experimental Station of the Slovak Agricultural Univ. in Nitra with two varieties of sugar beet (Fox, Zenith). The aim of this trial was to investigate influence of different methods of soil cultivation and variants of fertilization on the crop density. We have found out statistically highly significant influence of soil cultivation and non-significant influence of variants of fertilization on the field emergence and number of plants after emergence. As the best way of soil cultivation in relation to field emergence and number of plants after emergence has been showed conventional method of soil cultivation (stubble ploughing, spread of manure, medium tillage, deep tillage) in which we have reached the field emergence 71.2% and number of plants after emergence 91.787 per ha with variety Fox and the field emergence 77.4% and number of plants after emergence 102.343 per ha with variety Zenith
