Capability of Escherichia coli and Lactobacillus spp. to accumulate selenium in a biologically utilisable form

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic bacterial cell can accumulate some important heavy metals and store them in crystal or amorphous forms or incorporate them to mataloproteines. The process had been studied in nine bacterial strains of the genera Lactobacillus. Growth ability of cells on medium with different selenite concentrations was show - from 1.72 to 17.2 g/l for Escherichia coli and from 8.6 to 43 g/l for Lac tobacillus strains
