Waste water discharges into the Danube river catchment area and corresponding EC-directives

Information is provided on the development of emission inventories for municipal and industrial discharges into the Danube River Catchment Area. Discharges into the Danube River Catchment Area often do not comply with EC-Directives regulating waste water discharges. These EC-Directives are mentioned and their content summarised. Since many Contracting Parties of the Danube River Protection Convention have applied for membership in the EU, EC-Directives and their implementation will play a more and more important role in the Danubian countries
