One of the important determinants of crop yields of the highland agriculture is soil productivity. Theoretically, the soil productivity is negatively affected by soil erosion. Thus, the soil erosion, essentially, has undesirable impacts on crop yields. The present study aims to find the significance of the impacts of the soil erosion on the yields of some crops through the estimation of their production functions which include the soil productivity as an explanatory variable. Measuring the soil productivity index is substantially complicated and costly. To avoid the complication and the high cost of such measuring, organic matter is used to be the proxy of the soil productivity. In order to the find the relationship between the crop yields and the soil erosion level, the relationship between the organic matter and the soil erosion levels is estimated.
