Rice is Thailand's important economic crop. It is not only a major source of food for domestic consumption, but also a major sources of the country's export earning from agriculture. Generally, the marketing structure of rice is rather complexed. After the harvest, the product is channelled to marketing services in order to bring the product to domestic consumers or exporters. This study is aimed to analyze the price transmission and price movement of Thai rice at different market levels, especially from export to farm levels. The data employed for this analysis were collected from the Thai Rice Trade Association, Department of Domestic Trade, Ministry of Commerce and The office of Agricultural Economics, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative. The simple regression technique was used to analyze the elasticities of price transmission. Also the Box-Jenkins technique was employed in order to test for the patterns of the rice price movement. The result indicated that the elasticities of paddy's price transmission between form paddy price and wholesale milled price is over 0.30 percent whereas the elasticities of price transmission of wholesale price and export price of rice is over 0.60 percent. Considering movements of rice price in each standard was found that the preceding month had relationship with the two months previous price. It also found that the price information is useful for determining. So a promotion of firm in market system, particularly a promotion of provincial central market through out the rice growing areas, is very useful for the transmiss of price information between salers and buyers each market level. As a result, It reduces a marketing cost which yields a benefit for both salers and buyers in the market.
