Inheritance of mungbean tolerant to microessential element deficiency in Takhli Soil Series was studied in 4 mungbean crosses. The mating design employed is generation mean analysis consisted of female parent (P1), male parent (P2), F1, F2, and backcross progenies of female and male parents (BC1 and BC2). Chlorosis, the indicator of non-tolerance to microessential element deficiency, is governed by 2 loci of gene. A dominant gene in one locus has an epistatic effect (inhibiting action) on genes in the other. The expected ratios between number of plants showing chlorosis vs normal plants in F2, BC1, and BC2 were 3:13, 1:1 and 0:1, respectively. Modes of gene action were also investigated in agronomic traits viz., plant height, days to flowering, days to maturity, number of pods per plants, number of seeds per pod, one hundred seed weight, dry matter per plant, and number of wrinkled seeds per plant. It was found in all 4 crosses that additive gene action, dominance gene action, and interaction of additive x additive, additive x dominance, and dominance x dominance played significant role in controlling genetic variation of these traits.
