Microalgal Culture Collection is a unit of Microbiological Resources Center (Bangkok MIRCEN), Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR). The main function is to collect, preserve and supply microalgal for further use in research. Microalgae have been collected through a survey, isolation and selection from paddy soil, hot springs, industrial waste water and fish ponds. At present, a total number of 203 strains of microalgae have been collected. These include 13 genera of blue green algae, namely Anabaena, Calothrix, Cylindrospermum, Fischerella, Gloeotrichia, Hapalosiphon, Mastigocladus, Nostoc, Oscillatoria, Scytonema, Spirulina, Stigonema and Tolypothrix; and 3 genera of green algae, namely Chlorella, Closterium and Scenedesmus.
