Inheritance of morphological characteristics and yield in beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
1998
Zdravkovic, M.
This study deals with the inheritance of morphological traits, yield and harvesting index in five beans hybrids. The hybrids are: Biser x Galeb, Biser x Rozalija, Rozalija x Galeb, Palanacki Zlatno Zuti x Rozalija, and Palanacki Zlatno Zuti x Galeb. Dominance and epistatic gene effects were significant for inheriting the first pod height. Additive gene effects prevailed over the epistatic or dominance ones in these traits: plant height, number of pods per plant, number of beans per plant, yield per plant and harvesting index. The most significant epistatic gene effects were additive x dominance, which were found in 12 combinations, dominance x dominance, found in 7 combinations, and additive x additive in 5 combinations. Concerning the traits of the first pod height, the duplicate type of epistatic gene effects appeared in 4 combinations. As for the plant height, epistatic gene effects appeared in one combination, Applying the three-parameter test models, there were no epistatic gene effects in two combinations. Carrying out the significant tests, epistatic gene effects were not recorded in six combinations.
