The paper presents the results of long-term research of the historical development of spas in Serbia (Yugoslavia) and their significance in tourist offer. The majority of parks in spas, or their parts are very old, which makes their gradual reconstruction necessary. For this purpose, a new methodology of tree and shrub evaluation has been worked out, which enables exact assessments and planning of optimal tending, protection and gradual reconstruction of these parks.
