Comparative investigations of physical properties in various varieties of meadow black soils of the Kolubara valley [Serbia, Yugoslavia]. [A short version of doctoral dissertation]

In the present work the results are shown of the investigations of physical properties of meadow black soils from the Kolubara valley (Serbia, Yugoslavia), deeply leached and enriched with clay, which are under different utilization modes. The investigations were carried out of 9 profiles per each of three closely situated sites under forest, meadow and arable field vegetation. Under the influence of anthropogenization, the majority of physical properties of the investigated soils underwent a deterioration; the changes are mostly marked in the surface part of the humic horizon, at the depth of 0-15 cm, and are less present with the increasing depth. Agricultural occupation and further anthropogenization of the investigated soils was also reflected through the decrease of water resistance and content of agronomically most favourable aggregates, with the diameters between 1 and 5 mm, which are in the arable field soil about 3-4 times, and in the meadow soils by 15-20% lower than in the forest soils. The compaction of the anthropogenized soils is substantialy increased, while the total porosity is significantly decreased, the pore 30 micrometer content in the arable field soils being about 2-3 times lower compared to the forest, and about 1-1.5 times higher than in the meadow soils. The analysed indicators of plasticity and adhesiveness show that there occurred negative changes in arable field and meadow soils compared to the forest soils.
