18 Ascosphaera strains were cultivated on a Sabouraud agar in a thermostat at 32C degree. A total of 1187 bee colonies from 3 apiaries were tested. Propionic acid in concentration above 0.5% the growth of all investigated strains of Ascosphaera apis in laboratory conditions. In concentrations up to 20% it has a weak antimycotic effect in field conditions. Natrium propionate in concentration up to 10% dose not inhibit the growth of Ascosphaera apis in laboratory conditions. Propionic acid in concentrations of 10% and 20% dose not exert good effects in control and prophylactic treatments of chalkbrood disease in bees.
