The great radiation-hygienic importance of tritium for human and the functioning reactors of the Nuclear Power Plants - "Kozlodouy" in Bulgaria and "Cherna voda" in Romania have made it necessary to determine the content of this element in fallow grass, lucerne, cow and sheep milk, pork and mutton. The number of the analyzed samples for the 1997-1999 period reaches 356.The detected quantities of tissue-free water tritium in them varies within the range of 3.2-3.8 Bq/l on the average for the whole period. No differences in the content of radionuclide have been established depending on the kind and the geographic origin of the samples. The proved contamination level is low and is due to global cycling tritium.
