Four levels of pH rainging between approximaitely 4 and 7 have been created by adding different amount of CaCO3 to the soil. After that five levels of pollution with Cr wete created by adding 0, 100, 300, 500 and 1000 mg Cr/kg soil for each level of ph of the soil. Two cuts of alfalfa were grown and the second cut was analysed for Cr. The results show that the concentration of Cr in the plant tissue increases with the increases the amount of Cr in the soil and with the decrease of pH of the soil. The increases of Cr in the plant is especially high at pH bellow 5 and at the highest level of pollution. A good relationship has been found between the content of mobile Cr in the soil (X) and the concentration of Cr in the plant (Y) described by Y=2.7409X + 0.6265 (r=0.965***, n=14). The correlation coefficient between the total content of Cr in the soil (X) and the concentration of Cr in the plant (Y) was lower (r=0.629).
