Changes in organic carbon content (C org.) in the following soils natural and polluted by oil products (in the range 5 000- 50 000 mg/kg) were studied. It was found that with the increase in the amount of the pollution the content of C org significantly increased compared with the natural level (background), as well as with the respective lower levels. There was a strong correlation between C org. and pollutant amount (P; 0.9-0.95). Between 81-91% of a obtained result of C org. depended on the level of pollution by oil products. On the base of the high correlation between C org. and oil products a method of estimation of the level of pollution of the studied soils was supposed.
