Residual activity of aclonifen, diphenamid and oxadiazon determined by bioassays in field trials

The residual activity of aclonifen, diphenamid and oxadiazon was evaluated in a sandy loam to sandy clay loam soil at the maximum recommended rate through bioassays for a variety of seasonal crops. The herbicides were applied in autumn, winter and spring. Persistence, measured as biological activity, was least for aclonifen and most for diphanamid. Toxic effects of the herbicides persisted longer after autumn than after spring application. Several crops tolarated the three herbicides, while most of them were sensitive for from five to 11 weeks for aclonifen, five to 14 weeks for oxadiazon and five to 20 weeks for diphanamid depending on the reason of application and crop sown.
