The intensive processes of synthesis taking place in the udder were accompanied by the increase of the acid residues of metabolism in the organism. At the same time the acid-base ratio of urine correlated negatively with the daily milk yield, production of lactose and K sup(+) eccretion with milk. With the help of the daily amount of K sup(+) excreted with milk it is possible to characterize the scope of work of the Na/K pump and the amount of precursors (glucose, aminoacids, etc.) brought into lactocyte with thecotransport. The correlation of the urea excretion allow us to suppose that urea enters lactocyte analogously with glucose and aminoacids as a result of cotransport. The cotransport taking place in the basal membrane of lactocyte is inhibited by the alkaline shift in the extracellular environment
