An experiment to evaluate the effect of plant age of oil palm on production and nutritive value of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.) was conducted in Sitiung, Sawahlunto/Sijunjung. The experimental design used was Randomized Block Design with three replications. The treatments were four plant age levels of oil palm as follow: 1, 3, 5, and 7 years. The results of the experiment showed that the effect of plant age of oil palm was significantly different (P0,05) on dry matter production, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), lignin, silica contents, and in-vitro dry matter digestibility of elephant grass. The increasing of plant age of oil palm decreased dry matter production, crude protein content, and in-vitro dry matter digestibility, but increased (P0,05) neutral detergent fiber (NDF), lignin, and silica contents. The elephant grass grow well under the oil palm of 1-3 years of age, but the oil palm of 5-7 years of age decreased dry matter production and nutritive value of elephant grass
