Peroxidase activity in cell suspension culture of garlic

The activity of extracellular and intracellular peroxidase in cell suspension culture of Allium sativum was determined in different incubation time of cultures (0, 3, 6, and 9 days). The cultures were maintained in MS liquid media containing 2 mg/l 6-benzylamino-purine (2B) or 1 mg/l N6-(delta2 isopentenil)-adenine and 0.5 mg/l kinetin (1iP0.5k.). Our result showed that peroxidase activity from suspension cell culture in 1iP0.5k was higher than that from cells cultured in 2B. Zymogram analysis on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the intracellular peroxidase showed that the enzyme consists of two protein bands.
