[Possibilities for growing leek in Lithuania]

Leek cultivation technology was investigated in trial fields of the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture. Twenty two leek varieties of different earliness were included into trials. Productivity of various earliness leek varieties plant morfological development and chemical content were estimated. The influence of different row and plants-in-row distances upon leek productivity and yield quality was investigated. The following leek growing methods were evaluated : sowing directly into production field; growing from young plants; planting different quantity of young plants together in the commercial field.
