Results of the study revealed the following: A total of 745 plant species were collected and identified from 17.5 ha of forest land. Those species belong to 429 genera representing 122 families. These represented about 7.2 percent of the estimated total number of plant species, 25.5 percent of the genera, and 53 percent of the vascular plant families that are known to occur in the Philippines. The Subic Bay Forest Reserve recorded an average of 96 tree species on a per hectare basis. For fauna, a total of 117 species of wildlife vertebrates were identified belonging to 99 genera and 57 families. From the 117 species, 69 species are endemic to the Philippines, which consists of 55 birds, 11 mammals, one reptile and two amphibians. Invertebrate fauna identified belonged to 19 orders and 101 families. A total of 15 endangered species or threathened species were recorded. The presence of greater and lesser flat-headed bats which are considered as one of the smallest bats in the world and cloud rats in the reserve was one of the outstanding discovery/findings of this study. The species were collected from the following habitat types: mangrove-swamp, beach, lowland forests, parang/grassland/shrubland, and limestone forest. The latter was inhabited by many different species of plants and wildlife vertebrates. The computed diversity index for both flora and fauna were found to be higher except for arthropod fauna. This implied that the reserve is still rich in its resources and that there is a very diverse habitat
